It stays quiet unless someone addresses it
Kariaa replies only to a message that starts with /kariaa, that mentions it, or that is a reply to something it said. Ordinary conversation in your group gets no response, no reaction, and no direct message.
On Telegram this is enforced by Telegram itself: privacy mode is on, so the platform only forwards messages that address the bot and everything else never reaches our servers. It never posts on a schedule, never sends announcements, and cannot mention @everyone or @here.

Anything not on this list still works, an unrecognised request is answered as a plain question.

The one it is really for
Advance-fee scams are the most common thing posted into job groups. This is the part most moderators end up caring about.

Kariaa
This posting shows high-risk scam markers: it asks for a 2000 KES training fee up front, says WhatsApp only, uses urgent pressure, and advertises very high pay for a no-experience role.
Treat it as unsafe: look for the company’s own careers page and apply there, never pay to be hired, and never send ID or bank details before a written offer.
It describes the posting, never the employer, and will not call a named company fraudulent. A clean result is reported as “nothing tripped my checks”, never as confirmation that a job is genuine.
Permissions it asks for
Discord shows you this list on the authorisation screen. Telegram needs none of it, a plain member account is enough.

- To answer, in the channel it was asked.
- Send Messages in Threads
- So an answer stays in the thread instead of spilling into the channel.
- Read Message History
- Required by Discord to reply inside a thread, and to see the message a member replied to.
- Embed Links
- So a job link renders as a preview instead of raw text.
Not requested, and it will never ask for these
- Manage Messages. It cannot delete anyone's posts.
- Manage Server. It cannot change any setting.
- Mention Everyone. It cannot ping your whole server.
- Kick, Ban, Timeout. It has no moderation powers at all.
What it sees, and what it keeps
Kariaa holds no profile for anyone in your group. A question asked in a channel is answered from the question alone, it cannot look up who is asking, and it has nothing about them to look up.
Anything personal, someone’s CV, their applications, their account, is refused in the channel and moved to a private message. Emails, phone numbers and addresses are stripped from replies before they are sent, so one member cannot get the bot to read out another’s details.
Turning it off
Any group admin, at any time, without telling us.
- Mute it, keep it in the group
/kariaa off, and it goes silent until an admin runs/kariaa on.- Remove it entirely
- Remove the member on Telegram, or kick the bot on Discord.
- Limit it to one channel
- Deny it View Channels everywhere else, as you would any member.
On Reddit, Kariaa is an app a moderator installs from Reddit’s own app directory, the same place other subreddit apps live. Once installed, any member can write /kariaa check … or mention u/kariaaworks in a comment and it replies in that thread, as a single comment. It never posts on its own, never edits or removes anything, and has no moderator powers.

A workspace admin adds Kariaa once. Then, in any channel it is invited to, members type /kariaa help or mention @Kariaa. It asks for three permissions: to see messages that mention it, to reply, and to check who is an admin for the off switch. It cannot read anything else in your workspace.
